Sunday, July 27th, 2014 will mark 152 years since the Battle of Moore’s Mill, one of many battles fought within Missouri’s borders during the Civil War. The battle claimed the lives of over a dozen Union and Confederate soldiers, all of whom were laid to rest beneath the soft earth of the battlefield. The town of Calwood in Callaway County, Missouri has erected a memorial to mark their final resting place, as this year marks the sesquicentennial of the end of the Civil War. A ceremony dedicating the memorial will commence at 1:00 PM just west of Calwood on Route Z.
