GRANT IS NOMINATED

One hundred fifty years ago (May 21, 1868), the Republican Party at its convention in Chicago nominated Ulysses S. Grant as its candidate for President.  Indiana congressman Schuyler Colfax received the nod for Vice President.  The Grant/Colfax ticket would win an overwhelming victory in November, after running a campaign that had as its slogan “Let Us Have Peace.”
