ANNUAL BUSHWHACKER DAYS IN NEVADA

The annual Bushwhacker Days is being held this weekend in Nevada, Missouri.  On Friday, June 11, officials will dedicate an educational panel titled "The Burning of Nevada," made possible by grants from the Metz Banking Company and Nevada Tourism.

BLUE AND GRAY UNITE TO HONOR BLACK SOLDIER

On Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Mexico, MO at 2pm, there will be a ceremony for Cpl. Walker Lillard of the 68th U. S. Colored Infantry Regiment.  This is a "Blue-Gray" dedication of the marker for an African-American soldier. DIVIDED LOYALTIES EXHIBIT AT MISSOURI STATE ARCHIVES

Divided Loyalties, a new exhibit at the Missouri State Archives, uses historic Civil War Documents to examine the upheaval and uncertainty that characterized Missouri during the Civil War era. With more than 9 million pages of Civil War-related documents and court cases, the exhibit covers more than just battle. Slavery with its economic and social division impact are examined as well. CIVIL WAR INTERPRETAVE PANELS TO BE PLACED IN BOONVILLE

The city of Boonville has joined Missouri’s Civil War Heritage Foundation’s Gray Ghost Trail.  Boonville has paid for an interpretive panel to be placed near the Vollrath Farm.  Vollrath Farm was sight of a brief skirmish in 1864 that resulted in 15 Confederate losses.
